KLŌS Beginnings

The CoatCare Timing Most Pet Parents Miss

Your puppy’s first grooming experiences are foundational. At KLŌS Fine Pet Salon, KLŌS Beginnings is designed to build trust through calm handling, age-appropriate milestones, and wellness-based CoatCare—so grooming becomes a routine your puppy can feel good about.

When should a puppy start grooming?

Our program is ideal for puppies who are at least 12 weeks old, or two weeks past their second round of vaccinations (as recommended by most veterinarians). The earlier you begin within this window, the better the long-term outcome—especially for coats that mat easily.

Why we start with confidence, not cutting

The four-visit puppy grooming experience

Visit 1: Comfort & Calm

  • Gentle brushing and handling
  • Nail trim and ear massage
  • Light table time and touch with clippers (no cutting)
  • No bath unless your puppy is confident—this visit builds trust and familiarity

Visit 2: Warm Bath & Sensory Bonding

  • First bath using Iv San Bernard’s Puppy Don’t Cry (tear-free and ultra-gentle for developing skin)
  • Hand towel dry and slow introduction to low-noise drying
  • Soft brushing, paw and table work
  • Sanitary trim and light exposure to scissors (no body trimming)

Visit 3: Reinforcement & Refinement

  • Bath and blow dry repeated for reinforcement
  • Light scissoring of face, feet, sanitary areas, and ears
  • Nail grinding if appropriate
  • More independent table practice and brushing

Visit 4: The Finishing Touch — the KLŌS Puppy Cut

Your puppy receives their first KLŌS Puppy Cut, crafted with intention and care. We do not shave or fully cut the body. A puppy’s coat is still developing and should be preserved to protect skin, help regulate temperature, and support future coat health.

  • Eyes & face: trimmed for visibility and hygiene
  • Ears: shaped to help your puppy adjust to handling
  • Paws & pads: trimmed for safety and traction
    Sanitary areas: cleaned for hygiene
  • Body: lightly shaped and neatened (never shaved or clippered down)

Why we use Iv San Bernard for puppies

Puppy skin is delicate, and early experiences should feel soothing. In our puppy program we use Iv San Bernard Puppy Don’t Cry for gentle, tear-safe cleansing around the face and sensitive areas, and Iv San Bernard Talc Puppy Shampoo + Talc Conditioner Mask for a soft, comfort-forward finish.

Quick Answers (FAQ)

What age can my puppy start the KLŌS Beginnings program?

Puppies can start at 12 weeks old, or two weeks past their second round of vaccinations. Starting early helps your puppy learn grooming is safe and predictable.

How many visits are in the puppy grooming program?

KLŌS Beginnings includes four visits. Each visit builds on the last, gradually introducing brushing, nails, bathing, drying, and light scissoring.

Do you shave puppies?

No. We do not shave or fully cut the body during the puppy program. We tidy face, feet, sanitary areas, and lightly shape the body to preserve the developing coat.

What should I do at home between puppy grooming visits?

Short daily brushing, gentle paw handling, and positive reinforcement make a big difference. Even 3–5 minutes a day helps your puppy stay comfortable with grooming routines.

Do you use tear-free products for puppies?

Yes. We use Iv San Bernard Puppy Don’t Cry for gentle cleansing designed for puppies and sensitive areas, plus Iv San Bernard Talc Puppy Shampoo and Conditioner Mask for a soft, comforting finish.

Where do you serve?

We’re in Milton, GA and serve puppy parents across Alpharetta, Crabapple, Roswell, and North Fulton County.
